Golden Demon Compendium
The Golden Demon Compendium is an "unofficial" fan archive dedicated to documenting the history of the Golden Demon painting competition. It provides a carefully organised collection of entries, award-winning models, and notable works from past events. The archive also includes links to artists’ social media feeds, detailed statistics, searchable content, and leaderboards, making it a comprehensive and user-friendly resource for enthusiasts. While not officially affiliated with or supported by the competition’s organisers, the compendium serves as a valuable resource for those interested in the history and development of miniature painting within this renowned competition.
My Story
I’ve been a fan of the Golden Demon competition since 2005 when I attended my first event. I distinctly remember seeing Martin Footitt’s High Elf Spearman that year, which left a lasting impression. However, my interest in Golden Demon started even earlier, back in 2001, when I saw Kevan Downey’s Centurion Mk VI Recovery Vehicle featured in White Dwarf. That model inspired me and still does. Since 2010, I’ve been competing in the Golden Demon competitively, which has given me an even greater understanding and admiration for the skill and commitment shown by this incredible community.
Development of the Golden Demon Compendium
The Golden Demon Compendium has been a long-term personal project. The initial data sourcing alone took 10 months of work. This is now version 5 of the site, earlier versions were built between 2016 and the end of 2022. Version 5 went live in January 2026. Since the project began in 2016, I’ve poured countless hours into research, coding, and refining the site. I’ve worked independently on every aspect of the site, incorporating input and advice on certain parts. It continues to grow with regular updates, additions, and corrections, ensuring it remains as detailed and accurate as possible.

Golden Demon Submission Statistics
Over the past 38 years, information about the Golden Demon competition has been scattered across various sources, including White Dwarf issues, event booklets, forums, websites, and other corners of the internet. Unfortunately, many of these sources have disappeared over time, and the information they provided was not always accurate.
Golden Demon Compendium strives to bring all this information together into a single, accurate, organised, and searchable database. However, there are still gaps, unknown details, and occasional inaccuracies.
