Golden Demon has come and gone from it’s return to the USA in nearly a decade and! With a little over 500 entries it was a hotly contested competition with painters from across the globe travel to the event to enter their works.
So many fantastic entires were entered into this event, but the end of the entry deadline most of the categories were PACKED with miniatures. Cabinets are always a contention for most event but Games Workshop really went above and beyond with them this year. A vast improvement over previous years!
Early in the event Andy from Cult of Paint (with me behind the camera) took a short walk around the cabinets.
A Change In Process
A change that I personally found to be one of the best decisions in recent years was with the Commended Entries!
Usually the process is: the top 3 in each category are placed on the top shelf. This way you know if you have placed. But this year ALL the Commended Entries were placed on the top so nobody knew who won until their name was called on stage!
It meant, a long, stressful wait to find out if you have placed but the adrenaline rush as you name was called was pretty awesome!
The Slayer Sword & Award Ceremony
Triumphant with his Gold in Age of Sigmar – Single Miniature. Gavin waited with baited breath as to who would be crowned the Slayer Sword! He was very shocked to hear his name called out!
The award ceremony was one of the best I have attended in recent years. So many people turned up to the awards, staff members had to take down a wall in the hall to allow for everyone to get into the room! Everyone celebrating the winners was incredibly loud!
